    First post

I purchased my third baja. It is a 342 boss with twin 502 mags. I have 26 pitch props. I and only get 4400 rpm's. Do I need to get new props, or will getting the props help me get more rpm's?

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks

24 pitch would get you 5000 rpm with a light load on boat... or so I have read (online)

I would expect you would get a lil more than 4400 with 26s. How loaded is your boat? Gen set, etc?

Ok.. my advise... coming from possibly 4 years plaguing this issue that I had no idea I had..

Scan motors to make sure you have no codes. I recently found out that my boat had knock sensor codes on both motors... probably since I bought in from VA.
I could barely spin 25 m+ and had lost 800 rpms from when I did sea trial up north and then in summer heat.

Long story short.. got labbed 24 b1s and ran fine for about 4 years then finally borrowed a scanner and had codes on both.

Now I have to get my props labbed again bc the knock codes were fixing my timing on the top end... thus I have more power above 4K now.

So... check engines first, if all good, then call Brett at B blades to lab your 26s to see where he can get you. he should be able to get you 400 rpms and hold bow up better!
