New to me 89' Islander 226

I'm looking for a good prop for my Baja. Has the 454 with bravo 1 (1.50 ratio) the seller keep the old prop and put on a 19p and it sucks, any suggestions?

Nice looking boat. If you can give us an rpm and speed at wide open throttle we should be able to help you out better with picking a prop.

Welcome! Beautiful classic BAJA. As mentioned above, we need the numbers.

Very nice looking Islander! I have a 1990 DSR 190 with a 4.3 in it. I am running a stainless 21P in it and it gets out of the hole good enough to pull skiers and tubing. It does 48mph GPS, I am not sure of the RPM as my tach does not work. Your setup would be a MULE that can pull a ton out of the water but would not be very fast. What are you looking for?

This won't be much help but I got it to run 49.8 mph (gps) and the tach is only showing 3200 but it is incorrect because at idle it isn't showing anything and won't move off of 0 until I'm in the throttle about 1/4 of the way. I will be fixing that this week and retest her and get back to you but by ear she sounds like she is screaming so I'd guess she's over 5k rpm

I was thinking a 23-24p 4 blade but not sure. Most of the time I will be pulling a tube or knee board but love to get out and run with the big dogs some, I will probably run two different props so when tubbing I can prop for whole shot and when just out joy riding I can put on the go fast prop

Very nice classic boat! If it's just the run of the mill 300-330 HP 454, max rpm should be around 4600. My old 7.4L/Bravo required a 21P prop and was in a 22' boat so I would say 21P should be the ticket. I have a brand new stainless steel 21P for sale as well and might be able to make you a good deal on it.

4600 rpm with 10% slip running a 19" pitch prop is right at 49 mph...which sounds about right for your set up. The problem with going faster is going to be whether you can really twist a 21" or greater prop at a decent rpm. You may simply drop down to 4200 or so and not go any faster, and have a much slower hole shot.
