Help please!! I think I may have killed my deck's gelcoat??

    Hi everyone,

Recently purchased an 01 33 OL hence i'm very new at the 'cleaning' art (and what works and doesn't). Needless to say i'd like to keep it in immaculate condition and have already ordered a custom cover.

However, this past weekend we decided to take a stab at cleaning the spider poop - which has left an incredible mess atop of the deck. our slip neighbor suggested using scrubbing bubbles for the spider poop which I did. Afterwards I noticed the section (to the left of the rail...on the port side) is showing residue... i.e. the area I scrubbed is now showing residue. Did not notice at first. Big mess!

Then, alarmed, we cleaned it with 303 Multi-surface cleaner. And yes, overall the deck now is very much clearer - except - the residue is still there and I hope I haven't killed the gelcoat with this.

Does anyone have any suggestion as to how I can get the gelcoat back to 'normal' and remove the scrubbing/residue marks?

I thank you in advance for any help/suggestions as I am devastated at the sight.

Try wetsanding or you can even try a magic eraser.

You'll get a different answer from everyone that replies
I'm a fan of marine 31 products, if you want one product and see if it fixes it try Marine 31 Gel Coat Heavy-Cut Cleaner Wax
The best process is three products, oxidation cleaner/final step polish/carnauba wax + sealant

In the future use bar keepers friend, still need to rewax

I use 3m wax compound with a high speed air wheel, then I hand wax. Magic eraser is the $hit like Nalit says

My wife killed my gel-coated shower panel with that $hit so...I can see it happening.
Table Rock Lake is my home away from home, and big block power rules.

Just buff it. You'll be fine.
