it is a gm problem, the 3.1 and 3.8 always let water threw intake and by the time you see it low on anti freeze ,it is to late .the only ones that held up were the ones that came in under recall and got upgrade set that will last for about a hundred thousand miles. when looking for used motor you have to look hard on the oil fill cap, always shows a sign of that problem. residue of milky oil .

Looks that way, and like Jeff pointed out, the early style intake gaskets for these would deteriorate and if you didnít notice they were leaking into the oil it would really tear up the bearings. Unfortunately there is just an idiot light for oil pressure, so I have no clue what oil pressure was when I bought it. Maybe I wouldnít have bought it if it would have had a gauge. All I know is it drove good , oil was fairly clean and it sounded good. Itís sometimes hard to get a decent car for under $3000

almost impossible ,i have many parents come in that got a car for there kids and i give them every break i can, been there. sometimes i have to tell them not to put any money into the car.now you will have to be real careful because many flood cars from Florida and Texas are showing up on used car lots with titles that have been washed running them threw several different states
