    02 342 Boss / Bravo's Trim Limiter

On my 342, to get the outdrives up, I have to hold the trailer button along with each drive trim switch to get them to raise. They seem to go down fine. This usually tells me that the limit switch is bad I believe. Since I don't use an electronic "sending" unit so to speak because I have analog drive gauges I assume it's the limit switch(es). That being the case, which drive trim limit switch is it since there are two outdrives? This is my first twin engined boat so I'm not sure how that system works with 2 outdrives. Thanks!

I think you should have these on each drive, the “limit” is the one you’re concerned with

It can be either trim switch. I would test both of them first. You have one on each side of each drive.

1 side is the mercruiser trim indicator and the other is the trim limit puck.

Unscrew slightly where you can turn it and play with the setting. I dont think both would go out at the same time, may just need to be adjusted.

One puck is an electronic sending unit for an electronic gauge, irrelevant since you have manual indicators. The other puck is the trim limiter for over trimming. In the boat, you can splice the lead wires to the trim limiter to bypass it if its bad. the trim switch will work all the way ujp to all the way down. I had to do this when i went to the HD transom assembly that doesnt have trim limiters.
