    Gps

    Hello all,

I have a 2000 Hammer and would like to add a GPS to the dash. My problem is that they all are GPS/fishfinders. I donít want anything but maps and tracking. Any suggestions?

I wanted the same thing. And economical, so I ended up with a Lowrance elite 5m, which is chart plotter only. It doesnt have the fish finder crap on it. Came with navionics mapping for southern coastal area.

Works great, leaves trails so I can just follow my line back.

Ended up going with the SIMRAD GO5. Havenít hooked it up yet but Iíve heard nothing but good talk about this product. We have 2 14Ē SIMRAD units on our fishing boat and theyíre very easy to use. Love the touch screen and I have the option of connecting a transducer to use the depth finder.

Iíll update you after I install it later this week!

I added a Lowrance Elite 7TI touch screen plotter to my 202 Islander. I got the one without the transducer since mine has a depth gauge already. With that one you can customize what is on your screen. I also added a NMEA 2k backbone and Mecury Engine Gateway module to pull up engine data on the Plotter screen.

If you donít mind me asking. What year is your boat? How much did the NMEA cost you?

I have a very similar set up with a 10" at the helm and the 7" on the glove box with the NEMA 2K set up for both engines.

My boat is a 2008 202 Islander. I have the 7" Elite TI mounted on a RAM mount on top right side of my dash. It was about $ 700 for the Plotter, $360 for the gateway module on Ebay.
