    CrisisitC Baja 260cd 1994 Gen V 454 Mag

So in my 1994 Baja 260cd with a Gen V 454 Mag I was thinking after having replaced my steering cable and tilt helm to a brand new setup last weekend that maybe it would also be good to replace the fluid in the Power Steering reservoir.

I am looking for suggestions on this matter.

Probably a good idea. Easiest way would be sucking out the P/S reservoir fluid with a turkey baster, or your engine oil vacuum machine. Replace fluid with new. Then do it again mid season. This will get most of the old stuff flushed out.

Yep...I do this about every three years or so.

    Same with the brake fluid.
Table Rock Lake is my home away from home, and big block power rules.

F u c k!!! Tell me where the brake fluid is in my Baja...

I found out the “break” fluid reservoir must be full being that every thing breaks all the time....

brake fluid is the tears that start when your wallet is empty from replacing broken or worn parts

Re: Baja 260cd 1994 Gen V 454 Mag Power Steering

After this past Saturday running wot 20 miles to HiltonHead the gen V 454 mag didnt want to idle and was rough, docked it for about two hours started engine had rough idle and loud clanking noise and not much power trying to get onto plane, rode back at 30mph sounding like jackhammer....

Ordered a new fuel pump thinking it has issues being a few months ago upon replacing lube i noticed its age was showing on the diaphram and maybe it is also not regulating fuel pressure correctly...

Give me ideas please, want to get back out there

Because of the “clanking”, I would first do a compression test, then determine were the noise is coming from. Top side? Bottom end? Etc... I sure hope it’s something stupid and easy to fix.

You haven’t mentioned the current state of tune. Plugs, cap, rotor, wires, timing check, etc. I also believe, you have a carbureted engine. Water in the float bowls?

In my experiences, when an engine sounds like a jack hammer is down on power and runs rough, there is usually something major wrong internally. Like mentioned above I would do a compression test, check the oil for metal flakes, and try to determine were the noise is coming from. Of course if you find metal in the oil, you will have answered the other questions. Maybe it’s just me, but normally I wouldn’t run my boat at wot for that far. To me it’s pretty hard on the engine. Maybe someone else can give some insight on this.

Brand new plugs, new wires, new distributor and cap, new coil, and freshly timed... did all of this as preventive maintenance and the motor was running great two outing no issue what so ever...

How can i post the video so other can hear the noise, to me it sounded as if it was coming from starboard side front near mech fuel pump area...
