7000 may be close with the trailer and full of fuel (depends on how heavy the trailer is). If I remember right the dry weight is around 4500. Are you asking because of towing or something else?

Ya, she's got at lest the normal amount of liquid refreshments on board or we don't push off. I got into some hills this weekend and man she felt heavy. First time I've been in the hills with my 1/2 ton Avalanche, her hands are full. I think the tow rating is 7200# on the '08, 5.3, 2wd.

I have a 98 272 with a 502 and I pulled it with a 2500 8.1 avalanche and in the big hills in Kentucky going to Cumberland and the rpm on the engine was definitely working. Never handled different but a 1500 is a lot different. Just because the tow rating is 7200 doesn't mean it won't handle different at full capacity.

Was the 272 ever offered with a small block? Baja used the lightest weight they recorded...My 302 supposidly only weighs 6800 dry! I bet when I weigh it on a CAT scale it tips in right around 10,500 on the trailer full of fuel..

No I never weighed my 272, but I pulled it with a 1500 4x4 Z71 350 engine 6600 GVW It pulled good, but didn't like to stop, but I've never had a trailer that did til I put electric over hydraulic brakes on this one..Now the trailer will stop the truck.
