    29 OL back seat removal

I know this was mentioned in my post in the Motor section but figured XT might chime in here in the interior section...

How do I remove the back seat in the 29 OL so I can hopefully access the plugs on the motors better. I have heard some say there are some bolts here...there...everywhere and one saying that there aren't any bolts at all holding his in...just an "X" marks the spot. I didn't look last time I was hanging upside down but figured this thread would be good here.

Odds are the screws weren't put in or have fallen out. If they're still in there's 4 under the rear bench and 1 on each side of the gunwales. You need to reach through the engine area to get to these 2. Once you pull them out throw them in the trash you don't need them. I'll bet you push it back then pull up it'll come right out.

Mine only had them underneath inside the bench seat.....none in the gunwales.

It should've had them up in the gunwales...My point..I only had them in the gunwales. I found the rest in the bilge when I pulled the motors.

After an hour of looking and getting frustrated I learned mine never had any in from the factory as the holse were in the boat for it but the seat only had masking tape with "x" marking the spot where it was supposed to be drilled and bolted. Once I realized there were no screws a few good hard tugs on the back rest popped it out. Like Dave said you don't need them as the engine hatch closes on top the bench and will hold it in place.

Re: 29 OL back seat removal

Mine had 2 in the center on the backrest, accessed from under the bench & it ad 2 screws in the sides that were accessed from the cockpit with a lot of cursing.
I take mine out to do everything except checking the oil.
I had to pry my seatback out the 1st time. That material gets stuck pretty easy. After learning that lesson, I hit the mating surfaces with some Gigaloo. No more issues.
