    Incorrect tires on Eagle/Heritage Trailers

This has been discussed several times in the past, but thought I'd bring it up again. My boat on the trailer full of fuel and necessary gear is probably close to 11,000#'s it has 14" Goodyear Marathons on it which I believe are rated at 1700#'s. Thats about 800#'s underrated. I asked Eagle why they put 14" tires on a boat this size and they claim Baja told them those boats only weighed 6800#'s so they built the trailers to those specs. I asked them "do your trailers weigh 5500#'s?" Of course his response was "NO" there you have it!

So my question is what do you have and have you had issues with blowouts?

i replaced all of my wheels and tires last fall and when i did i put 15 inch on it instead of the 14 inch because your selection of trailer tires is really limited with the 14 inch stuff

Question Re: Incorrect tires on Eagle/Heritage Trailers

I went to a 15", 10 ply Maxxis tire on my trailer. Bought 8 new wheels & tires & sold off my junk Marathons. Have yet to have a tire failure.

I had 17's on my last trailer and when I got my Manning Trailer I had 16" wheels put on it. Why risk it.
Because without beer things just dont seem to go as well

That is my plan. I just need my 14's to last one more trip then I'm putting 15's on.

I think that more the less of all triple axle 29/302 trailers are all set up with the 14's. My Road Runner is the same way. Doesn't make it right, but it "is what it is". I would like to upgrade...but I'd rather upgrade the entire trailer...mine is all pitted/rusted in places etc from the origional owner. Want a nice Magnum with torsion axles, 15's etc on it....and of course... "LIME GREEN"!

Re: Incorrect tires on Eagle/Heritage Trailers

Pulled the 14's in August 2008 and replaced with 15" D rated (some cheap Chinese no name brand) and haven't had a problem since except for a nail through the sidewall on one tire. When I replaced that one, I found a cheap E rated tire that keep as one of my spares (have 2 spares on the trailer).

If anyone locally needs some 14" rims w/ Goodyears, let me know. Got 6 and 3 of them are new.

Throw them in the swap shop...I got 6 left of mine and one 14" aluminum wheel. I'm pulling last 6 off after LSCR putting 15's on
