I'd have to say that it got REALLY hot in the back leading me to believe he had a fuel leak that filled the bilge area....Guess we'll never looking at those pics...Luckily no body was hurt....Doesn't take long to make a .38 Special junk!

Actually, another article said the owner was burned pretty badly and was taken by helicopter to the hospital. Burns suck and I sure feel bad for this guy. Hopefully he gets well soon and comes out ahead on the boat!

Re: Use your Blowers (bad deal at Loto)

I guess I should've phrased it differently Busta I meant luckily no one was killed...I'm sure being he was at the fuel dock he had just filled up and 180 gallons of gas equals a BIG explosion!!!! Along with the fact that it's all right below your feet...

I can say whenever I'm not on plane my blowers are running regardless of what I'm doing and they definately run when I'm getting fuel unless it's on the trailer.

Now that I think about it I recall 2yrs ago one of the attendees at the LSCR had filled up his boat before getting to the launch and while we where helping him get ready we smelled a strong odor of gas. We inspected further and found that after he filled up the gas expanded and was venting out the cover of the tank into the bildge. He has ALOT of gas in his bildge had he put it in the water and fired it up the same result could've happened so I guess word of advice is always open your hatch and check to see if there's gas vapors or raw fuel down in there will avoid a HUGE mistake by firing the boat and finding out the hard way!!!
