Top Speed for a 33 OL

What is the top "safe speed' for the 33 Outlaw and what kinda horsepower do you need to get there?
Because without beer things just dont seem to go as well

A lot depends on the major ingredients.

    #1. Skill level
    #2. Conditions
    #3. How deeps your pocket

Low/mid 80's - 90ish from what I have seen/been in and 1000 + HP.... But a lot of it is in the set up as you know with your boat. There is fast "loose" and fast "stable".

I know in "stock" set up a 29/302 anything over 75 is hairy depending on the conditions...but as we have seen with Jason Smith, Mike Bandy's and Irish's the set up makes the difference...same goes for a 25 w/o hydro steering...over 70 gets to be a handful if you are not experienced.

After driving mine and Mike's I'd have to say up to 90 is safe in a 29OL with our setups. I'd have to say that the way your boat rides and I've never personally been on a 33OL at speed I'd say mid 90's is very capable with your setup and hull.

Jay Tee is up over 90 and I think he has roughly 650+ HP. Crayola is over 100+ in his 33OL but he has a bottom that is custom/special and about 750 HP. I know the 40OL is a big bad boat but I think the 33 might be the fastest.

My prop height is about 3 5/8 in and I have the regular BBlades Bravo 4 blade "Baja cup" props. But, I could use a touch more cup. After my new engines go in they will be at least 30's anyway. So, I will do more prop tech in about a month.

    Keith,

When I can keep my 30's in good shape I am running right at 80+-. What are you putting in your boat now?

Raylar HO600 engines. They should dyno at 625-650HP around 675-700TQ

I know some arent big 496 fans but mine were old with no resale value and had a lot of hours - plus I had a ton of parts so i am sticking with the 496 platform.

Very nice, I will be interested to see your numbers. What drives are you running? I am assuming XR's at a minimum.

Re: Top Speed for a 33 OL

Yeah, I am curious to what she will do. The speed caluculators for my previos power said 76-77 mph and that was correct. For 1200 HP is says 90... I am praying...

Raylar HO600, Stellings boxes, bravo XR uppers and bravo lowers with IMCO shafts. My boat may be a 342 but my cuddy doesnt have anything in it but the couches. My fridge & stove are gone. My bow/bed storage is empty. So, hopefully it is as light as an Outlaw.
