    Work and LAB 26's...or 28's?

What is yall's opinion's? It gets so hot down here that in the HEAT of the summer with my HO's in my 29 OL I can spin 48-4900ish at best WOT...2 peeps, 1/2 fuel. This past weekend I spun around 5,000 maybe a tad higher since we had a front and the humidity dropped out depending on how true my tach's are.

I have played with props on all sorts of boats back in the day...but just wanted some of yalls opinions. I know some people around here because of the heat just take their factory props and LAB them to keep the RPM's in the summer. I was thinking of either:

A: "Tweak" my 26's to maybe 27's and LAB them?

    OR

B: Do a set of 28's (R's should be around where they are now from my experiences)?

Of course all of this is "when the time comes" and I have some money. My ECU's should be re-mapped to 5300 since I got them back at the beginning of the summer, but I have never gotten that much out of them. I can get my hands on some LAB 28's that are built for a Baja...but there is a huge difference in LABing what you have vs. buying new props and LABing them....

I do know that my 29 runs damn near dead even with another 30 OUTLAW on the lake with HO's and LAB factory 28's on it. He has a nose on me going towards the dam...I have a nose on him going towards the bridge...strange...so basically dead even. My speedo is WAY off...only shows 69-70...he said we were running 76-77....

    Suggestions?

Each pitch you go up requires 250RPM's more to spin labbing gains you about 200 RPM's so if you can only spin 26's 4800 in normal situations you won't be able to spin 28's even labbed. 27's will lose you another 200 which you'll gain back by labbing. All I can say is don't expect it to only take one trip to the prop shop to get them dialed in. I'm guessing 3 trips. If it was me I'd find a set of props over the winter to have for your cooler weather boating..

If you go the labbing route. You need to get or barrow a handheld gps speedo to make sure you have the correct info to give to who ever you have do the work.

I would get a gps # on the 26's. Have them labed by Brett at B Blades. Have the Revliminator moved up to 5450. You will end up with more RPM in the heat and not on the revliminator on the cool days. Work on great the Violator. For additional 2 mph on the top end, all female riders must have thongs on..

Thanks Steve, appreciate it. I know I was told that the guy who re-did my ECU's bumped them to 5300...I was thinking of doing the 26's for now (to save money) and at worst case I will have a good set of props for the summer...I can always win the lottery and get a few more sets of props....

Re: Work and LAB 26's...or 28's?

Well I think after really looking at things I am going to work the 26's when the time comes. Even last weekend with low humidity and low-mid 80 temps I still only managed 48-4900 WOT full trim...1/2 tank of fuel, Keli and I...

What is BBlades charging to lab/work props if you send them to them... I am thinking it was...$375-$400 ea? or am I thinking of something else? I still have a gift certificate for BBlades from LSCR...just have to find it.
