    502 running 5000 RPM

Just picked up a 25 with a stock 502 with stainless marine manifolds. Currently running a 23P Labbed Marage Plus II (14 5/8) on it and wondering if another prop will get me some additional performance up top. UNsure how much more HP the aftermarket manifolds are giving me but in the fall weather it will run past 5200 rpm and runs 5000 in the heat. Is this too much rpm for a stock 502?

Your running right where your suppose to be...A 502 should have a rev limiter of 5150-5200 so your boat is running at it's optimum setup...Only option you could do and not sure of the gains in your setup would be to lab the prop and possibly run a 25pitch or 24 pitch Bravo

Was wondering if a larger labbed prop may still give me 4800 and run out a little better.
Can you run these things at 5000 RPM without damage for extended periods of time? Not talking hours but running boat hard for a while

You can turn the motors no prob. My 25 OL had a LAB 26 Bravo 1 on it... ran 5-5100 depending on conditions. Had IMCO exhaust, MSD, ECU re-mapped and other stuff as well...

Hit up "Violator"...actually look at my other post on "26 vs. 28" for my boat...he has a pic of his at 5350 RPM...that's a 25 with an HO, Box and 26 B1 LAB on it...

I've held mine for 18 miles WFO 5200 rpm's if your running like that I'd recommend keeping your oil changed every 15-20hrs.

I ran a labbed 24p Bravo by Bblades on my 272 with 502Mag. it ran 5000rpm's@ 70mph GPS

Ummm I think it was other way around and good thing I stopped to wait on you at the split you prolly would've blown a engine trying to catch me and Steve

Yea how long you had that Amsoil? You were suppose to do that in September. Don't forget to change the oil in the fuel pumps.

I have the same boat, did you ever try a different prop? Outcome?

Baja raised the X dimension in 2002. I'm guessing your running a 23p Mirage now. I'd think you could swing a labbed 24p if your around 5000rpm's

They didn't raise it on the singles...only the twins. That's why the 3-blade was still factory std. on the singles. Twins they raised the X in 02. It is interesting to go measure the difference in a 29 or 33 from 01 to 02.....
