I was wondering if you would mind to disclose your Top speed GPS. I have 272/502 m+23P 2000 model installed new Gaffrig GPS took it out last weekend with high humidity and temp and run 60 GPS 1/2 tank fuel 2 people I was wondering if and how much the labbed prop would help I was thinking I read a post from Irish Tornado where he said with the proper set up and his 272 would run 70 any day. I'm not sure how many boats he has. I appreciate any help you could pass along. Thanks

I also have a 272 with a 502. It has been modified but before that with a stock 23 mirage it ran 65 gps. I then went to a 24 turbo 3 blade that ran 67 gps. The only thing I did was eddie marine exhaust which was added before both numbers were taken. 60 seems slow. Have you done a compression check? What RPM at top speed?

I haven't GPS'd her lately. But I've run it 68- 69 in cooler air/water, empty and alone. Never been on the limiter. Mines got k/n, gil exhaust, reflash, timed at "12*". IMO you get lots of bang for the buck out of a labbed prop. It's not all or only apparent on the top end.

Irish runs in allot cooler enviornment than I do, that can have a positive effect. The last few MPH's are coaxed out of the boat with trim and tab. Mine needs at least neutral tab around 60ish to settle down. 2 foot chop helps too
    ...ridin dirty aboard...

I have never run a compression check on it but it don't use much oil and you never see it smoke even with a cold start on the muffs, it has arizona speed air intake, stainless marine exhaust with the chrome risers everything is stock as far as I know with less than 300 hours this is only my second season with the boat but it has been checked out by a reputable mechanic at MPH motorsports at Lake cumberland I 'm not necessarily a racer but I do like to do what it is capable of at times I was kinda disappointed with 60 GPS.

I knew I had seen this thread before but couldn't find it. Is that 272 of yours stock ? Just trying to figure out what my problem is and what steps I need to make to improve. Mine showed 65 on wish o meter.and when I tried it on Sat. water was really rough and I have no experience using trim tabs.

    As far as I know it's a stock setup..It was a 1995 272 with 502 Mag and Bravo drive with 1.50 ratio. I spun a 24p labbed Bravo 1 right at 5000 rpm's...

How humid is it and how hot? These play a major issue with speed and rpm's..

My boat did not have trim tabs so I don't know...I'd set them at neutral(meaning flush with bottom of boat or a little up) Then start out trim full in and slowly trim up until you feel the boat loosen up. You'll literally feel it speed up and get looser..
