What weight oil and how often do you change it?

I agree. Have always run the stuff as long as I can remember. I have an old 96 K1500 4X4 that my daughter drives with 235K and it still gets with it and delivers 22 MPG on the highway. Just had the old truck freshened up on the exterior a couple months ago. I was going to sell it... its free though. AMsoil since 25K miles. I keep it in all my vehicles.

Awesome bro, thanks! Well since Merc runs 25/40 probably ???? In the old days I would run a straight HD40 Royal Purple generally...... I have no clue what is the "right oils" anymore but am open to ideas from anyone reading along. You know where I boat...extreme heat in Texas etc....so??? And as far as gear oil that is all bout the same across the board...

I'm running Amsoil Racing 15w50 synthetic. Change it every 25hrs which breaks down to once a season for me.

I ran the same when I had the Outlaw. Changed it every season. Now just have the Amsoil Hp 2 stroke and the marine gear lube for the drive. Good stuff!

    I'd recommend Amsoil 15w40 marine/diesel

Re: Oil Filters #'s and what they fit

I use the Amsoil 10/40 Marine with the Roller Cam, I used to use Amsoil 15/40 Marine/Diesel with the flat tappet. I did a bunch of research a few years ago and I cut apart a bunch of filters to see how they were made. The standard Auto filters are junk paper elements, K & N were built well but the Amsoil filters use a better media material. I have been a dealer now for about 5 years.

I'm running Amsoil 15w50 Racing Oil in my motors, but I'd say 15w40 in yours would be fine. Too heavy is the same as not heavy enough IMO

    Change mine every 25hrs
